Commodores Monthly Blog

Updated January 2009
I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and I wish you’re a Happy New Year for 2009. With the “Credit Crunch” (I hate that word and will not use it again, let’s call it for what it is, a recession) everyone will be tightening their belts and looking to cut costs. That is something we are always doing as a club. Weir Wood is still great value for money and a great release for our busy lives. We have a fantastic facility at the club and beautiful surroundings, so I urge you to keep you membership going. I know the summers have been a bit pants for the last couple of years and we are due for a good one. I am reliably informed 2009 will be it. (But don’t quote me on that)
I have been writing my blog now for a year, (not sure if anyone is actually reading it), but if you are, then you get the opportunity to know things in advance. As the normal method of communication is the club magazine and that is only published every three months.
This is the anniversary of the club’s new website; well new is not perhaps the right way to describe it now that it is a year old. It has proved to be an invaluable marketing tool; it’s worth its weight in gold and is the envy of other clubs. I know this because clubs have approached the designers, asking for help with their own. The webcam attracts a worldwide audience, making Weir Wood Sailing Club known nationally and internationally.
We have many new plans for the sailing club this year, too many to go into detail here and I urge you to read the club magazine (out at the end of this month) to find out exactly what.
That’s it again for this month.
Happy sailing
Tony
