Weir Wood SC

About Weir Wood Sailing Club

The Clubhouse
Weir Wood Sailing Club boasts some 280 acres of inland sailing waters that stretch for about 1.5 miles. We are nestled only a few miles South of East Grinstead just off the A22 at Forest Row. The club was founded in 1966 as a winter only club and became an all year club in 1981. We are fortunate enough to have probably the best and most beautiful sailing waters in the South East. A little know fact is Weir Wood SC was the first ever sailing club in the UK on inland waters with a treatment plant.

As a registered RYA Training Centre we run a full complement of sailing courses from beginners to advanced, for children through to adults, 7 to 70’s and above. Training courses are run by our volunteer team of instructors, who are all members themselves. The courses are run mainly on Saturdays, which leaves Sundays free for Club racing. Details of all our courses and the dates they are due to run can be found on this website.

For those who like their racing, our main classes are Lasers, 4.7s and radials, RS200s, RS400s, RS600s and RS800s, Laser 2000s, Enterprises, Toppers and Optimists. We also have a number of Fireballs, Buzzs, Flying Fifteens and 2.4mtrs. We race all year around Saturdays, Sundays and on Wednesday evenings during the summer. We have a proud record of success on the open circuit with a number of National, European, World Champions and a Para-Olympian in our ranks. Visit the club and read the Roll of Honour displayed in the main club room.

The club has professional caterers at the weekends throughout the year. This guarantees a fair selection of reasonably priced hot food, salads, rolls, sandwiches and snacks are always available, together with a range of hot and cold drinks. The club bar is also open on Sundays and for social events.
