Laser 2000
Saturday Impromptu Sessions & Clinics

The Laser 2000 impromptu Saturday morning sessions are back. We eventually got underway on the 23rd January with 9 boats turning out, for practice starts, single lap racing and working out line bias. They run from 11am each Saturday. The aim is to build the confidence of Laser 2000 sailors and improve their sailing skills so they are happy to venture further with their sailing. This Saturday 30th January we aim to build on the weeks before sessions plus get an understanding of rig tuning and setup.

The sessions are very informal lasting as long as you like say, only a couple of hours each week or longer if you wish. Consisting of various exercises to test and enhance your sailing ability. Exercises such as, practice starts for racing, hare and hounds to test your sailing skills, upwind and downwind practice and many more.

We also hold regular clinics to help with boat tuning, understanding sail settings and what all the controls do, when to use them etc, to improve your understanding for maximizing your upwind and downwind boat speeds.

The ultimate aim is to build your confidence to take part in racing at club level and taking part in the club’s open meeting. This year it is a Millennium Series Event to be held the first weekend in July. We also want to get as many of our L2K members to take part in the Laser 2000 Nationals. This year (2010) they are in Sidmouth Devon (see the events calendar below for details).

Open meetings and the Nationals are not as scary as you may think. The Laser 2000 Class are a friendly bunch and very family orientated, with events for all the family to enjoy.

Whether you are serious about your racing or just looking to improve you overall skills come along and join us. For further details contact Dil Sandhu
