Join Weir Wood Sailing Club
Weir Wood Sailing Club offers a variety of options should you wish to join. They start from £60.00 for the year that is as little as £1.15 per week. You can join as a Single or Family Member. Single is for anyone over the age of 18 and family is for Partners and Spouses plus their children up to the age of 18, (unless they are still in full time education, then that age limit is increased to 21). We also offer a Cadet Membership. This is for single junior members up to the age of 18 (21 if in full time education). In addition to your annual subscription, you will also be asked to pay a Water Access Fee for using your dinghy. This currently starts at around £100.00. So for example, a family of four can be sailing at Weir Wood in their own dinghy for less than £5.38 per week. A single member £4.58 per week and a cadet for as little as £2.31 per week. We also have membership options for Windsurfers, Senior Citizens, Affiliated Clubs and Social members, so we have something to suit everyone.
What do you get for your membership? Full use of all the clubs facilities, clubroom, showers and club bar etc. You can keep your dinghy at the club in one of our large boat parks. Access to the reservoir for sailing at the Week-ends, Bank Holidays and Wednesday evenings during May to August. There are support boats patrolling for your safety at these times. You can also sail during the week, but the clubhouse and its facilities are not available. You need to obtain permission from the fishing bailiff, who controls the use of the water outside normal club operating times.
As a member you will be able to hire one of the club's hire boats. This allows a person new to the sport the opportunity to try a few different classes of boat before buying their own. Also you can benefit from cheaper instruction on one of our many sailing courses. We run a full complement of RYA sailing courses for both adults and youth.
We are a members only club and the club is run by its members. Therefore we require the members to do a couple of duties a year. The member selects a duty, which may be for example opening the club and locking up at the end of the day, assisting in running the racing, driving one of the support boats or manning the club bar. All the duties are quite simple and do not involve any previous experience and instuction is given.
